Weekly Video Highlights: 2009 Killer Diller Weekend

Seattle seems to have it going on all year round.  Here are videos from their just completed Killer Diller Weekend featuring Naomi Uyama and Skye Humphries.

Solo Competition Slow Round

Solo Competition Fast Round

Not sure who won this, but it looks like Bobby Bonsey nailed it.  Anyone out there know the results?

Harvest Moon Lindy Hop Finals

Congratulations to the winners Rebecka DecaVita and Emelie DecaVita all the way from Sweden.  They killed this comp, which is especially impressive considering that the band was playing at about 300 bpm’s.

Odd, I feel like after all this time, especially in the 21st century,  that there should be more women out there who specialize in leading rather than following.   But I suppose that’s speculation for another blog post.

Performances

The DecaVita’s were involved in recreations of the Congaroos, and Sister Kate reprised their ULHS Charleston performance.  And Anna, Brenda, and Karissa performed a slightly different version of their daring performance from the Emerald City Blues Festival.

“Gimme a Pigfoot”

Finally here’s video of the outstanding Meschiya Lake with Glenn Crytzer and his Syncopators.  Sounds like Glenn provided all the live music for this event including the contests.  Good stuff.

Sarah Dekard won the solo comp. But I too thought Bobby would have won that one. I’m kind of glad Sarah won though since she was dancing and not pulling a bunch of tricks.
They are all fantastic dancers though! Esp. the lovely swedes!
And Meschiya was just TO DIE FOR the entire weekend.
The whole weekend was pretty much fantastic.

PUSHUPS INTO CHEST BUMP. Pretty much the best thing I’ve ever seen.
